ADOPT A SOLDIER

Our association has decided to take on a very important project beginning this Holiday Season and continuing on indefinitely. It is known as ADOPT- A- U.S.- SOLDIER. Simply stated it is a volunteer-based program that connects supportive Americans with deployed soldiers. It offers a channel to communicate encouragement and express gratitude to the brave men and women serving our nation.

Service men and women tell us there is nothing like receiving something in the mail from home. Therefore, it is very important for each of them to know we care and support them. Your letters and care packages can do just that.

So what goes into a care package? It does not have to be expensive; you can put them together on your own— books, playing cards, cookies, bagged snacks, small games, etc. Remember: The soldier’s first priority is war and not to be a pen-pal. They will respond if and when they are able. You can be sure they are receiving what you send, but many do not have free time or any days off for extended periods of time.

For mailing information, please contact

pmorris@bham.rr.com

Please, won’t you join in and help? A letter speaks loudly to the soldier, as well as those e-mails and items you might send. ADOPT- A- U.S.- SOLDIER is one of the most important projects we can do to bring home a healthy hero.

As with all of our brave men and women in the United States Armed Forces, our thoughts and prayers are with them as they continue serving our country.

MAY GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.

To those who laughed,
To those who cried,
To those who fought,
To those who tried,
To those who gave their very lives...
We remember.

2007 has not been a very happy year for the Alpha Avengers.
We lost three of our much beloved
BROTHERS within a three month period.

Ned T. Kintzer

11-12-1947     05-05-2007

Raymond C. Houghton Jr.

05-26-1947      05-30-2007

John "Tex" Fair

12-11-1950      08-25-2007

It will be difficult to imagine our Association without the help
and guidance of our past three leaders.
However, it is more important than ever to "DRIVE ON" and
stay the course in their honor and memory.
We are certain they have been called home in
preparation for the destiny which awaits us all.
Until then we will carry on our original mission of reuniting
all "A" Co.  2/501st 101st Airborne Division members.
GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES  during their time of sorrow.
They are lifted up by all fellow Avengers.
So in their honor, we challenge all members, old and new,
to make a special effort in attending the 2008 San Antonio Reunion.
Let's make this an exceptional reunion.
We look forward to seeing you there.
