JAMES BYRD BRANDON


Brandon arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in 1967 and was assigned to 1st Platoon. He went with A Company to Vietnam, December 1967.

Unit Citations

03 February 1968

SP4 James B. Brandon earned the Purple Heart (Posthumously) for military merit and for wounds received which resulted in his death from wounds received while on a military aircraft on courier mission and hit by hostile small arms gun fire in the Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam. He was admitted to a military hospital where he later died.

 


 


Spec. 4/c U.S. Army, {RA16896563}, Vietnam War-Spec Brandon died of his wounds from a Helicopter crash on 2-3-1968 while serving as a Light Weapons Infantryman with Co. A of the 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Spec. Brandon started his tour of Vietnam on 12-15-1967. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Brandon of Chicago, Illinois.
