SFC JOE LOUIS JOHNSON

 

Johnson arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in 1967 and was assigned to Weapons Platoon. He went with A Company to Vietnam, December 1967. Read the newspaper account of December 29, 1967.

PSGT - E7 - Army - Regular - 101st Airborne Division - Gulfport, MS. Length of service 10 years. His tour began on Dec 13, 1967. Casualty was on Dec 29, 1967 in HUA NGHIA, SOUTH VIETNAM, NON-HOSTILE, GROUND CASUALTY, ACCIDENTAL HOMICIDE (A mortar round was fired with a 200 millimeter error in deflection). Body was recovered.
